Fun things to do with your furry friends this fall.

The leaves are falling, the pumpkin spice lattes are flowing, and Halloween is just a couple of short weeks away. My pooch Bruno, a 2-year-old Boston Terrier loves the fall. I thought I’d make a list of some fun activities you can do with your dog during this lovely fall season.

Apple Orchards & Pumpkin Patches

Something I really love to do during the fall is going to apple orchards and pumpkin patches. Thankfully, there are plenty of orchards not too far from home. Apple orchards aren’t only fun for people though, the wide-open spaces, new people, and fun activities make bringing your dog to the orchard a worthwhile fall treat. Your pet may have quite the blast running up and down the rows and rows of apples while you pick the perfect Honey-crisp or Red Delicious.

There are several pet friendly options, just be sure to call ahead.

Tailgate parties

Another great fall activity is tailgating, and your dog is sure to love it too. From the amazing food you’re sure to be making, to all the excitement around the big game, your pup won’t be able to get enough. If yours is anything like mine, you’ll probably want to slip him a treat or two off the table, so he doesn't feel left out.

Puppuccino

One thing I learned about recently was the puppuccino. You may have never heard of such a concept. Basically, a puppuchino is a cup of whipped cream offered at Starbucks and other coffee shops that are catered especially for your furry friend. I used to be skeptical about it, but it seems my Bruno has a blast with them and it makes for a perfect occasional fall treat!

Our local favorite, Comet Frozen Custard & Coffee on Kirchoff Rd. offers a Pup Cup, ask about it....Your dog will thank you!

Paths & Trails

Maybe you enjoy the simpler things and need a relaxing getaway. Rolling Meadows has some great paths, trails & forest preserves nearby, like the Ned Brown woods, go and admire the falling leaves and wildlife at your own pace. I especially love this idea since it allows you both to simply take some time out of your day to decompress and enjoy the scenery in the area.

Here’s a whole article about the various paths and trails around the area.
