New Building Code Updates

Effective July 1, 2022, the 2018 version of the International Code Council sets will be in effect, along with updated local amendments.

The City has provided a simple outline of the changes:

These building codes went into effect in January 2011:

• 2009 International Residential Code
• 2009 International Mechanical Code
• 2014 Illinois State Plumbing Code
• 2008 National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) National Electrical Code
• 2009 International Existing Building Code
• 2009 International Property Maintenance Code
• 2009 International Fuel Gas Code
• 2009 International Fire Code
